Welcome to Mr. Hemminger's Webpage! Check this page frequently for class assignments, documents, and announcements.
Hi Students and Parents! My name is Will Hemminger and I will be teaching Biology CP and Honors at Western Alamance during the 2017-2018 school year. I have also taught Honors Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, and Oceanography during my time at Southern Alamance High School. I am very excited to join (and return to) the faculty and staff at Western and be apart of the Warrior family again as I completed my student teaching here during Spring 2016. I am also one of the Elon Academy Advocate here at Western. I graduated from Elon University in 2016 with a B.S. in Environmental and Ecological Science and a B.A. in Biology Education.
During my time at Elon, I've had multiple opportunities to conduct research both here and abroad. My field research and internships have taken me around the world, including Peru, Belize, and South Africa. I am very passionate about teaching science and getting students to engage in the content in a collaborative manner. While I do not expect my students to become scientists after they leave my classroom, I do expect that students think like scientists both in and out of the classroom. I will post my afternoon tutoring schedule once the semester begins. I am available in the mornings before school at 7:15 am by appointment. Please let me know at least one day prior before scheduling a meeting with me. *the picture on the left is me with Kevin Richardson, aka "the Lion Whisperer' |
